Glimepiride is given along with the diet and exercise to treat type 2 diabetes. Glimepiride belongs to the sulfonyl ureas class of drugs.
Acarbose is an oral anti diabetic drug that keeps the overall control of blood sugar levels in the body. Acarbose alone is used as an adjuvant to diet for balancing the blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes. It is different from sulfonyl ureas class of anti diabetics as it acts via different modes of action.
Pioglitazone is an oral medicine given in the treatment of Diabetes. This drug is recommended for the type-2 diabetes, a condition in which body is not able to use the insulin normally and hence is not able to control the amount of sugar in the blood. Its usage is contraindicated in type-1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
